about

After falling in love with the original Hungarian song by Besh o droM, Meggyújtom a pipám - which translates as "I light my pipe", Roula Said gathered with her dance troupe and choreographed an exuberant dance. When she learned that the lyrics had a much darker theme than the dancers had all imagined, she was inspired to write Arabic lyrics with a theme of gathering with girlfriends, smoking sheesha and dancing our cares away. Thrilled to have Adam Pettik (back up vocals and darbuka) and Gergely Barcza (Ewi) from Besh o droM on this track.

Verse 1:
kick back and relax, Saba
prepare the sheesha (hookah/water pipe)
pour the coffee, Miruna
and pass the argilah (sheesha/hookah/pipe)

Chorus:
Life is bitter, life is sweet
why should we wait until tomorrow
come on my man
let’s live in joy

Verse 2:
in the afternoon, and in the evening
we gather together
let’s forget our troubles
let’s dance and have fun

no matter what happens all around
there is nothing but goodness in our hearts
