This is an old Egyptian folk song. It dates back to a 1946 Egyptian movie with the foremost Egyptian dancer/film star of the time, Tahia Carioca. Composed by `Aziz `Osman, with lyrics by Badi` Khairy, it was brought back in a big way by the great Saidi singer, Fatmeh Serhan, and has become a huge bellydance favourite. In our version, the instrumental lines are re-imagined by David Buchbinder inspired by hearing Ustaz Bassam Bishara sing and play his version.

bussi-wi-tkallem, `ala ayni ya gada`
ah ya salam sallim, `ala ayni ya gada`
ah ya gada`, ah ya gada`, ah ya gada`
pre-translation:
please note - the word gada` recurs in this song
gada` is sometimes translated as a young man, or a macho young man
I think of a gada`, as a "hot young salt-of-the-earth guy from my hood", a sexy mench
translation:
Beneath the window I spotted you O gada`
And what shall I do with you, won't tell me O gada`
If you pass in front of my house
I kiss your feet to look up, and quench this passionate love,
O please look up and talk to me
Upon my eye (lit.)
O peace, greet me,
Your cheeks are apples, give me a taste gada`
Your eyelash slaughters,
get away from me O gada`
ah you gada`
